Can you find the author?

A. Louis contributed this wonderful pome:

By the shores of Gitchie Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water
Sat the walleye-gobbling lady,
Somebody's dark and native daughter.

Enjoyed your totally and unfortunately credible column on MobyLives. So, come on, which Conference was it?

What a hilarious and horrendous experience! And the things we do for patronage! At least he didn't try speaking to you in "Native Language"...although that would have only added to the charm.

I smirked throughout reading your column. I am not at all surprised at the disgusting behavior. I only wish you had named names, because, heck, they deserve to be exposed.

...as my friend who linked me to the mobylives post said.."read this..s'funny and sad at da same time"...this blog post brings it full circle...uh, and not in the circling wagons sense.

There's a story about you, a link to your MobyLives column, here on Japundit.com, a website based in Japan.

Hi Tom,

No offense taken. That picture's from high school, when I was really into bad perms and big glasses...

thanks for posting,

What a great column. When they get back from their camping trip in Canada, I'll share it with my friends: he's Italian-American and she's Korean-American from South Dakota. He and I were out walking their baby and were approached by a woman and her Shar-Pei. The dog sniffed around the kid and then the woman looked at the two of us together and decided the baby was ours (as in adopted by two guys). "They have something in common! They're both Chinese!"

Your mobylives article was rec'd to me by a friend - it was *so* funny. As another Asian Am woman who strangely gets mistaken for Native American, I sympathize. I'll be forwarding the link to other ambiguously brown writer friends.

Your mobylives piece was shocking, awful, and hysterically funny. What a great combination. You have such a gift for turning terrible, awful things into very funny and provocative writing. You're fantastic.

My father (Japanese American) was once traveling in Cherokee, North Carolina, and some tourists asked to pose with him for photos outside the Trading Post. He complied, and then bowed and said, "domo arigato." They didn't quite know what to do with themselves.
