Marie Lee’s new book The Evening Hero recently got some buzz on Good Morning America. Last week, Good Morning America selected The Evening Hero as a buzz pick for the Good Morning America book club. Good Morning America flashed The Evening Hero on its Times Square jumbotron for tourists and readers worldwide as they walked through the busiest part of New York City. The Evening Hero is Marie Lee’s newest novel about a Korean war survivor who moves to America and becomes an OB-GYN. The story follows Dr.Yungman Kwak’s floundering career and growing disillusionment with the American dream. Marie Lee was interviewed for Good Morning America. Lee spoke about the plot and how Dr. Kwak can only move forward with life by confronting the demons of his past.

Lee states in her Good Morning America clip that she wanted to tell a story that was both “dark and funny.” The Evening Hero is about a “seemingly ordinary small-town doctor” who turns into a hero with “a remarkable story.”

Lee’s work has awarded her many distinctions as an author, including the Fulbright scholarship, and she is a New York Foundation of the Arts Fiction Fellow. Readers can check out The Evening Hero’s plug on the Good Morning America Book Clubs’ Instagram or their website. Readers can also check Marie Lee on Instagram, Twitter, or her newly created TikTok

Since its release in May, the Evening Hero has received attention from several additional media outlets, including Vanity Fair and Oprah’s Spring List. The Evening Hero is out now and is published by Simon and Schuster. The Evening Hero is in both hardcover and for download on an e-reader. The Evening Hero is available nationwide through Amazon, Bookshop, and more book retailers.
