The Evening Hero is preparing for its official launch in the literary world with early favorable reviews and recognition. Angie Kim, the best-selling author of the book Miracle creek, writes about The Evening Hero, saying that it is “Filled with sharp insights into immigrant life.”

Marie Myung-Ok Lee’s new upcoming novel, The Evening Hero, follows the journey of a Korean immigrant who pursues the American dream. Everything seems to be going well for Dr. Yungman Kwak, who has a thriving career working as an obstetrician in a rural Minnesota town until a life-changing letter unravels the world around him. 

The Evening Hero is about immigration, the medical profession, and North Korea.

Marie has been traveling and speaking about the novel in select locations over several weeks, including the 2022 Association for Asian American Studies Annual Conference, which occurred April 14th-16th in Denver, Colorado. Marie Lee has spoken about The Evening Hero at various regional book associations, from Great Lakes Press in Kalamazoo and Mountain and Plains in San Antonio. On March 24th, Marie appeared as part of Simon and Schuster’s Summer 2022 Fiction in a virtual event for the New England Independent Booksellers Association (click here for the video).
